There are two bars at the Royal Bar & Hotel.

The hotel's original bar remains on the ground floor, with access from the entrance veranda. Waiters serve arracks and all kinds of local and imported alcohol as well as local draft beer from the Victorian style, ebony bar counter between 11am to 2pm and 5pm-11pm every day (except on the days of the Full Moon and other occasional dry days as decreed by law).


Drinks and bar snacks are also served to guests at upturned barrels as tables in the courtyard or at the marble-topped tables in the shade of its cloister. The courtyard is the hotel's most popular area where a clientele of cosmopolitan Sri Lankans and visitors happily mix throughout the day. Smoking is allowed.


The saloon bar in the upstairs restaurant is dedicated to connoisseurs with its exclusive range of whiskies, including single malts, as well as aperitifs, cocktails, digestives, cigars and New and Old World wines.
