The main restaurant at the Royal Bar & Hotel is on the first floor with a television gallery overlooking the street. It is a room evoking an era when dining was conducted in a leisurely manner, with its white rattan chairs and deep red leather-upholstered banquettes. Guests can also be served at marble-topped tables on the restaurant's outer gallery with its view of the street, or on the inner balcony overlooking the courtyard.


The menu for lunch and dinner concentrates on a few items of quality, including vegetarian choices, freshly prepared under the direction of a master Sri Lankan chef trained in Switzerland.

The restaurant has its own bar with an extensive range of New and Old World wines at quaffable prices.


The Coffee Shop on the ground floor with traditional chequerboard tiled floor serves snacks and light meals throughout the day, with daily specials. The adjoining courtyard with its cloister and stout, white painted columns, tropical parasols, and meandering pastry trolley, has become an alfresco café favoured by both locals and tourists alike.
